What’s happening in Bixby this summer?
Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods’ newest community is under construction in Bixby and there’s a lot on the agenda if you’re in or around town this summer.
Here are events to watch for if you’re looking for some local flavor in Bixby.
May 19-20
Washington Irving Memorial Park, 137th & S Memorial Dr, Bixby
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bixby
This two-day, family-friendly event welcomes visitors from all over and highlights some of what Bixby has to offer. For $10, festivalgoers can purchase a taster’s kit and sample the best BBQ in Oklahoma and the Midwest, then vote for the People’s Choice. More than 50 vendors will display and sell their goods and services, while a kids’ zone will feature pony rides, slides, and inflatables. If BBQ isn’t your thing, the festival will have a food court with hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, beer, soft drinks, and much more.
June 30, 7 to 10 pm
Bentley Park Sports Complex, Bixby
Come enjoy the biggest free public fireworks extravaganza in the area! Fireworks will launch at 9:45 pm. Watch the show with your family and friends in and around the park or stay in your car and watch from afar. Bring your own picnic items and lawn chairs, blankets, footballs, and frisbees. It’ll be a spectacular show!
Bixby Optimist Green Corn Festival
Held on the 4th Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of June
SE of 151st & Memorial in downtown Bixby
Sponsored by the Bixby Optimists Club
This annual festival features great music, arts and crafts, food, bingo, carnival, and great games and contests for the young and young at heart. A talent show highlighting local youth will be Friday at the Community Center, and the annual Green Corn Parade entertains the crowd on Saturday morning. Sip lemonade, shop an array of crafts and gifts, and listen to music with your friends. Cool off during the heat of the day by joining in a few rounds of bingo in the building at the corner of Charley Young Park. And don’t forget to catch a ride on the Ferris wheel as the sun sets.
