Building Your New Home

Select Your Homesite & Floor Plan

The first step in your custom home timeline is to work with one of our New Home Consultants to select your homesite and floorplan.

If you haven’t already been pre-approved for a home loan, your New Home Consultant will also connect you with a preferred lender to begin the loan process. The only financial commitment at this point would be earnest money to reserve your homesite.

Personalization and Construction

Once you have written a contract for your new custom home you will meet with your Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods designer who will walk you through selecting options and approve the budget before construction begins.

Before construction begins you will meet with your builder at a pre-construction meeting. Throughout the building process you’ll receive updates from your builder and they’ll be available for any questions you may have.

During this time you will work with your mortgage company to finalize any financial details prior to closing. You won't put any money down or pay your first mortgage payment until closing.

Closing

A couple weeks before you close on your home, the Customer Care team will walk you through your new home at a Home Preview meeting. This orientation will be important to learn maintenance tips for your new home. 

The final step to owning your new home is closing. This will take place at the title company and you will walk away with the keys to your brand new home. Congratulations!

    The Ideal Warranty

    The Customer Care team will schedule another meeting with you approximately 60 days after closing to help identify any needs you may have, answer any questions, and point out additional maintenance tips along the way. Customers can submit a warranty request form at any time and are more than welcome to request an 11-month meeting with your rep if you wish!
