History

Founded in 1904 as a railroad town, Piedmont’s roots are steeped in agriculture and community spirit. Its location on the old St. Louis, El Reno and Western Railway helped the town grow steadily while maintaining a rural character. The town has changed over time with Oklahoma – reshaping itself after the move of the Oklahoma capital from Guthrie to Oklahoma City, and then through the Dust Bowl and World War II. Since those early days, it has been a place for people who want to be near the city, but crave a slower pace of life. Today, Piedmont is one of the metro’s most desirable places to live thanks to thoughtful growth and top-tier schools.

Working in Piedmont

Thanks to easy access to I-40 and the Kilpatrick Turnpike, it’s an easy commute from Piedmont to Oklahoma City, Yukon, El Reno, and Edmond. Some of the area’s largest employers include INTEGRIS Health, Paycom, Mercy Hospital, Dell Technologies, and Chesapeake Energy.
