Give back to the local community near your new home in oklahoma cityHere at Ideal Homes we are big on giving back to the local area in and around the communities where we build, as well as globally. Since it’s an important aspect to us, we also understand that when you, as a homeowner in the Oklahoma City area, move into your new home you may also be interested in opportunities to do good in your local area. We’ve put together this short list of great charities that you may want to dive deeper into in order to donate your time, energy, effort or money. November and December always seem to invoke a spirit of giving, which is wonderful! Many of these organizations can use a hand year round. Take a look and decide your level of involvement but it’s great to have all these opportunities in one place. City Care OKC – Founded in 1996 City Care works to break down barriers and stop the cycle of poverty. They help provide food and shelter for the homeless, supportive housing for low-income families and homeless, provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for inner city kids and help individuals build life skills through the outdoors. City Rescue MissionThe City Rescue Mission provides more than just emergency assistance to the homeless. They work to help homeless people build new lives and meet individual needs with compassion and care. Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma – We have done food drives and volunteer with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. No family should go hungry during this season of giving thanks. Nor anytime throughout the year. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma works with a network of more than 1250 charitable feeding programs including food pantries, homeless shelters, church pantries, soup kitchens, food rescue centers and schools. Look into how you can help. Novo MinistriesNovo provides mentoring opportunities for inner-city boys and girls. Their mission is to break cycles of destruction, create hope, and instill a sense of purpose through life changing mentoring relationships. The Hugs Project – This charity started in Edmond, OK in June of 2004 provides human services to veterans. Their mission is to give handmade items and care packages to Americans serving in the Middle East. Find out how you can get involved. Feed The ChildrenFeed the Children is an international nonprofit relief program with it’s headquarters in Oklahoma City. They deliver food and essentials to individuals, children and families affected by famine, war, poverty or natural disaster. Habitat for Humanity – Of course building homes is near and dear to us, and we’ve participated in local projects with Habitat for Humanity before. It is always rewarding to spend time giving shelter to those less fortunate. These few charities we’ve listed barely scratch the surface of all the ways you can get involved in the local community, from children’s literacy programs, senior programs, animal rescue, the arts, here is a comprehensive list that provides something for everyone’s desire to do good. During this holiday season, we hope you’ll join us in giving back. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
