The city of Bixby, Oklahoma is rapidly growing and is now home to more than 30,000 residents, including nearly five thousand new students. And with the population on the rise, so are the number of business and employment opportunities. You can find just about everything from fast food spots, dining, shopping, coffee shops, and tons of entertainment for all ages.

This month, the city announced Courts & Commons located just northwest of 121st Street and Memorial Drive. This 29,000 sqft entertainment venue will house eight indoor pickleball courts, an outdoor pickleball court on an island in the middle of a pond, a food hall with new restaurants and an indoor and outdoor courtyard. Bixby mayor, Brian Guthrie, said this will create a fun destination for residents and visitors.

Spartan Square, in downtown Bixby, will be the location for a $20 million dollar development set to include a new Tru by Hilton Hotel & Conference Center, shopping and approximately 200 parking spaces.

Bentley Park Sports Complex, located at 8505 E 148th St. S. along the Arkansas River, is an amazing feature being renovated with pickleball courts, beach volleyball courts, cornhole boards, soccer fields, batting cages, baseball maintenance building and additional parking.

Mayor Guthrie said with a growing city it is important to increase public safety to keep up with the number of residents. Bixby currently has a new fire station under construction. Bixby is also opening employment opportunities within the police department in hopes of hiring at least three more police officers, to bring the total to 41 patrol officers and 41 firefighters. This is more than triple the number of emergency responders since 2000.
