In Case You Missed It…The Best of Our Blog

August 2, 2018

We’ve been sharing news, tips, insight, and updates on our Ideal Homes blog since 2009. We recently looked back at some of the most popular articles over the past year. There’s some great information here that’s timely and valuable. Our team decided we should bring the best of our blog articles to your attention, in case you missed it!

“Why Basements Don’t Make Sense in Oklahoma Homes” (September 26, 2017) presents a compelling, fact-filled explanation for installing a storm shelter rather than relying on a basement.

With the popularity of the farmhouse style, it was no surprise that “Affordable Farmhouse Details” (March 1, 2018) was a popular article. Our designers share tips for incorporating this appealing rustic look to fit your own decorating taste.

With “Tips for House-hunting in the Winter” (February 22, 2018), we learn that a lot of people are interested in looking for a new home rather than hibernating when the temperature drops. We offer ideas for learning more about homes in a wintry search.

In “Multi-generational Living: The New Version of Home” (August 9, 2017), we remark about a big shift in households: the kids aren’t moving out and the grandparents are moving in. For the first time in 130 years, more adults between the ages of 18 and 34 are living with their parents that with a spouse, significant other, roommates, or alone.

To answer the question, “How Many Ways Can You Use a Bonus Room?” (January 24, 2018), we came up with quite a few, from home office or guest room to craft studio or man cave. With this bonus room option in 55 of our new home plans, it’s definitely something to consider.

If you like happy endings, read “McKown Village: Tiny Homes, Big Hearts for the Homeless” (September 11, 2017). Ideal Homes’ president of development, Gene McKown, spearheaded an unrelenting campaign to build a community of tiny homes for the homeless in Norman, OK. McKown Village provides rent-free, transitional housing and includes a dining hall that offers shelter for up to 200 people—reflecting Ideal Homes’ commitment to community outreach.

Our readers enjoyed looking at our “Most Loved Floor Plans” (May 22, 2018). It was hard to pick four out of the 63 new home designs we offer, so we relied on the favorites among Ideal Homes’ homeowners.

Lisa Stitt of Oklahoma Home Expressions shares her knowledge and experience for “Staging Your Home” (February 19, 2018). Knowing how to do home staging correctly can reduce the number of days your home is on the market.

Last year, “Wildflower Sprouts a New Section of Homes” (October 11, 2017) shared the advantages of living in our very affordable section of Wildflower, a West Moore new home community that offers a playground, splash pad, and great location.

“A Look Back at 2017” (December 21, 2017) drew a lot of interest from our website’s visitors. This article describes the seven model homes we completed in six of our new home communities in and around the Oklahoma City metro area in 2017.

We’ll keep sharing newsworthy articles for homeowners, homebuyers, and residents of the Oklahoma City region. We welcome your questions and ideas, too! Contact Ideal Homes to learn more about our new construction homes and 16 communities, or anything else you’d like to know about building, buying, and maintaining your home.
