Hands, hearts and hope for Haiti

Giving back is just a part of who we are at Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods. The company and individuals at Ideal have made incredible impacts in our communities and around the globe. Over the past 30 years, through both large and small projects alike, Ideal is always looking for a more intentional way to give back.
For the second year in a row, Ideal has partnered with Mission of Hope to pack thousands of meals for Haitian children. According to Ronda McKown, Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods community outreach director, Ideal employees and their families spent a day at Victory Family in Norman, all set to pack 20,000 meals. “But, lo and behold, we went above and beyond and were able to pack over 27,000 meals!”
More than 95 Ideal team members, along with spouses and children, volunteered for this worthwhile project. Here’s what went into packing these meals:
- Tables are set up and organized with stations for ingredients to be included in the meal; there are areas for scooping the ingredients, weighing, heat sealing and boxing
- Four ingredients are scooped into each plastic meal bag: vitamins, dehydrated vegetables, soy and rice
- Each meal bag is then weighed and sealed before being placed into boxes and prepared for shipping
Team members were treated to lunch and an afternoon ice cream break -- hearts were full -- job well done.
Ideal’s partner in this endeavor – Mission of Hope – is an organization committed to life transformation for every man, woman and child. According to them, this meal packing event plays an integral role in providing a daily nutritious meal to more than 120,000 kids in Haiti and helps move them from hunger to hope.
